The Saudi initiative For Home Computers Joins SADAD




Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) has joined SADAD Payment System on the 5th of October 2005 through the initiative of enabling a million Saudi families to get a personal computer in a facilitated way and comfortable installments via SADAD payment system in two years. CITC maintained the adoption of this initiative based on its targets in the information technology field, desiring that the Saudi families get good PC specifications and enabling the individuals of the Saudi society to use the means of communication and the technology of the information in all their life aspects in general, and the personal computers especially.

The initiative aims to add at least one million PC users in the Kingdom market. And to Support the computer manufacturing and the assembling activities in the Kingdom and elevate the economic productivity by the information technology industry and through the new usages of information technology services and of the implementation of this initiative. It also aims to generate a suitable environment for remote work and learning potentials especially for the woman, and narrowing the digital gap between the different segments of the society.

SADAD was established by the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA) to be the national Electronic Bill Presentment and Payment (EBPP) service provider for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). The core mandate for SADAD is to facilitate and streamline bill payment transactions of end consumers through all channels of the Kingdom’s Banks. SADAD aims to link all the banks and billers in the Kingdom in the near future.
